In his capacity of Prime Minister, he was in charge of 1MDB. This national fund started with 1 trillion ringgit.

Since he lost the 2018 general election, he is now being asked to account for what happened to the monetary assets of the fund which have vanished. The inquiry is spear headed by his successor and one time mentor, Tun Dr. Mahathir. 

The Tun Dr. at age 92 has been in retirement. He was called to re-engage in Malaysian Politics with Anwar Ibrahim, a person that he had mentored but with whom he had a falling out. Post the break up, he initiated a charge that Anwar as a sodomite, a.k.a. as a bugger.

In their respective transmogrifications, each now needs the other to do their good for Malaysia. Paradoxically, they are together the best thing that has happened to Malaysia since her independence.
