It was always looking in front of us.

In ancient high cultures was the recognition and respect of the endowment in us to decide to end our own lives. It is a God-given power.

However, Christianity defined it as a mortal sin.

Now, slowly the tide is turning.

It is not an easy thing to exercise the decision to end one's own life. But when a person decides to do so, he or she will do it and nothing in the world can stop the person. And such a person will take the decision without the kind of operatic brouhaha of those who proclaim to all that they intend to but either fail to succeed doing it or in the end do not. For us, we have concluded that people who are like this are doing it for their opera and for their secondary gain.

It is equally hard for those who discharge the wish of the person, say with dementia, to end his or her life. This case is one of them:
