It is interesting to note that:
From now until 2050, half of all population growth will take place in only nine countries: India, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, the U.S., Uganda and Indonesia.
If we examine the named countries that will contribute to the population increase, the case of the US will probably be by immigration. Her native population, like those of first world countries are hopeless at producing requisite 2.6% increase just to hold their population stable let alone to increase it.
Therefore the increase in world population will be subscribed by third and fourth world nations.
The first question is whether the other nations have the agricultural base to feed their increasing population. If they are not able to, they will be hostage to the food largess of the US and EU.
The second question is whether they have the industrial base that can offer them a way to earn their living to secure a good life for themselves and their children.
The third question is whether they have the educational base to teach their children possible futures of their choice so that they are free of the thralldom of poverty.
If these nations fail across these three metrics, we shall see huge mass movements of peoples hammering at the doors of first world countries as they seek admission for a better life.
