The US naval task force will have new company

The military power of the US is supreme.

However, her companion in this game of hegemony is building some interesting new ships:

As Hercule Poirot of Agatha Christie fame would say, this will present the US Defense Dept. a new challenge to its grey cells as to how to answer these new destroyers.

True, a part of the game for China is totally benign in its intentions. It is just to provide naval companionship to the US Naval task force in the South China Sea. After all this task force is not in their natural home waters of San Diego, USA.

It is for this that the Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians, Thai, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Philippines, Taiwanese, Japanese, Australians and New Zealanders are wondering what on earth is it doing so far away from home base. I believe the distance is about 18,000+ miles?

Yes the US is saying that it is in the South China sea to ensure the Freedom of Navigation. But does anyone know which World Authority thrust and heaped this job on top of the US. I know of no UN Security Resolution authorizing this.

And if the US Naval Task Force was not there, is it true-to-fact that there would be no freedom of navigation in the South China Sea?
