Trump and his volte-face over ZTE

ZTE is a Chinese high tech firm. It was trading with Iran. 

But Donald has recently reapplied sanctions on Iran.

So for the sin of this trading by ZTE with Iran, Donald imposed a ban on all US trading with ZTE.

What he was not told eventually, was that last year alone, ZTE had bought USD$2 billions plus from US companies for the year of 2017.

Because of this ban ZTE shut down its operations absolutely, completely and immediately. In doing so Donald reversed himself on ZTE.

He said the closure of ZTE has hurt ten of thousands of Chinese workers. (He failed to observe that it also hurt tens of thousands of US workers). Therefore, he has instructed the US Dept. of Commerce to do everything possible to restore ZTE to its former operating and financial good health.

What he does not realize is that ZTE now knows, that it urgently needs to look for alternative suppliers from Germany, France, Britain, Australia, Japan, S. Korea. Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Italy. It cannot be held hostage to Donald's fickle whims.

Who wants to trade with an unreliable partner.
