The Summer Palace

During Ava Gardner's and Charleston Heston's 55 Days in Peking visit, the Imperial Summer Palace was looted by the civilized Western and Japan.
This Summer Palace was the repository of the tribute artifacts given to China's Emperors of what ever Dynasty. it was therefore a  collection that extended over thousands of years.
This is a humiliation that, in the Chinese psyche, can ever be forgiven and it is reflected in this:
