I hate to say this:

As a one time au pair girl in England with a concordant level of education, she is trying to control the Congress Party and propel it forward with her son, Rahul as the nominal leader.

If he, Rahul was THE LEADER, he is an incompetent. 

As a NOMINAL LEADER, he is worse than incompetent.

Solution:
     1. Remove Sonya Gandhi, widow of Rajiv from the position of            power behind the Congress Party 
     2. Send Rahul into two years of military service in the Indian 
         Army, starting from its lowest ranks and see how well he can 
         crawl up the military hierarchy
     3. Spend 3 years at LSE on a course in Political Science
     4. Spend 3 years in the Dept of National Policy of the National 
         University of Singapore and learn from its greats.

Only then may he return and without any help, fight for the right to represent a political constituency in India.

If he wins it, let his fellows in the Parliament judge him as to how good he is.

If he can win them to be under his leadership, then round them up to help recapture the Congress Party and use it to fight for the PM-ship of India . . . like every other Indian.

To live under the political patronage of his mother now is the living death of his political life and future. 

The woman is an utter incompetent and disaster to the Indian Congress Party and a meta disaster for India.

The best she can do for India is to accept a pension from the Congress party, retire to a place in Italy like Umbria and find a fine stout Italian man to be her spouse and give her what she has not had for much too unnaturally long.
