For me the role of Australia in this matter is honest to its policy.
As a sovereign nation it has a RIGHT to determine its immigration protocols.
However, I wish it had found a better way and much earlier to resolve the fate of these person who deliberately wended their way into Australia's clutches.
I would have sorted out their respective political statuses and shipped them back to their countries of origins.
And if they were refused re-entry, I would have sent Australian troops to help them to get back home.
