John Mersheimer - you are such a sad disappointment

Carthage was once a great civilization and a great Mediterranean maritime trader.

Rome of the villages on the seven hills coalesced into one and set out to conquer the next village, the next town and on and on. Each conquest was by the sword of its unfolding legions.

Then it thought it was stronger than Carthage, - metaphorically the next "village" in its sights.

Thus, 3 Punic Wars were fought. And under the Roman General Scipio, it won the last one and with it GENOCIDE of all Carthaginians and the obliteration of Carthage forever.

When a thug on the block feels he has to be the top dog in the entire block and then the top dog of all blocks of an entire city, what is the generative logical basis to power into actuality such behaviour?

It is:
the character weakness
that spawns FEAR!
of being under the heel of another.

So, now, view this:

What poor Johnny is saying is that:
it is the character flaw of weakness in us that
spawns our fear of being under the heel of another
that compels us to be the top hegemon over the world.

Poor John, there was a time when China was the top hegemon.

However, its thinking was that it did not want the beauty and excellence of its civilization to be contaminated by barbarians.

So, her entire fleet was put to the torch. All documents relating to its maritime sojourns was put to the torch. And Admiral Zheng He was compelled to retire.

No foreigners were ever allowed
to enter the Middle Kingdom.

No ambassadors of any nation was wanted by China.

This facet of Chinese thinking has never been expunged by an NSP therapist. So, it is still there.

However, this John Mearsheimer doctrine is flawed.

How can a would be hegemon with a population of 350.000.000+ population subdue a population of 1,350,000,000+ when it comes down to nuke for nuke.

Pray China holds onto
her ancient stance of
NON-HEGEMONISM.

Johnny forgets that the US was defeated in Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq.

She was victorious in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Panama, Grenada and 55 Days in Peking with Charleston Heston and Ava Gardner.
