The men that Trump has chosen are men who have accomplished great things in their lives.
They have their integrity to defend and their principles to uphold. 
Therefore their stance at their confirmation hearings as cited above do not surprise. 
It surprises only those who have lived failing to defend their integrity and upholding their principles.
