you have to wonder what on earth you can do.All the nations of the world have a problem. The nation that is the most parlous and the weakest today is the US. Its national debt today is over US$18.3 trillions.
When you owe this much, of which nearly a quarter of it is to she-that-cannot-be-named, you gotta to know your place in the order of things.
This world has always had this habit to look up to a hegemon. Once it was to Pharaoh of Egypt, then to Darius and Xerxes of Persia, Caesar of Rome, Alexander of Macedonia, Genghis Khan of Mongolia, Napoleon of France, the British Empire and then the US empire.
It is just a habit with human beings. Now we still look up the US as our hegemon. Certainly our PM, Stephan Harper of Canada does. But, everyone else is now with great difficulty trying to turn their necks to look for a new hegemon because the US might be weakening.
If the US collapses from its pedestal, stop huffing, puffing and fussing.
The new hegemon will be revealed and then we will all turn our necks and kow-tow to it.
Who knows it might be Mr. Tsipras of Greece.
