UK's outrage

You can understand UK's outrage over this:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/uk/Julian-Assange-case-UK-to-make-formal-protest-to-Ecuador/articleshow/48487344.cms

However, the claim that from 2012 it has cost 12 million pounds to police the embassy to catch the unfortunate Julian if he tried to hop out of the Ecuadorean embassy is not entirely accurate . . . is it.

It the equivalent of 4 million pounds per year. This is the equivalent of pay 4 policemen to do 6 hourly shifts per day to police the embassy and be paid half a million pounds salary per year for doing so.

There is no policemen in the UK that earns a half million pound salary a year. If this figure of 12 million pounds per year is true, then who is soaking up the difference.

The UK public would really like a forensic audit with respect to this claim.
