It was Arthur Koestler who pointed out that nearly all of us live on the trivial plane.
Life is for most of us happily ordinary but the odd daily minor problems. now and then.l
We live in this way because the orthodoxy of the meta hierarchy or holarchy of our society ensures that in every logical semantic level of our life or holon, it will operate with the automaticity of its power of self-governance and autonomy in an unchanging manner and style.. If you work in the municipal police department or fire service, everything and everyday is normal unto its doings. If you are a school teacher it is the same and if you work as a pilot or chief steward of a flight for Air Canada everything is normal and is in situ as before.
Life is boring and banal, but nice and comfortable.
It is only on those rare occasions when a whopper comes up the road in the form of a humongous unexpected problem to solve, utterly fierce challenge to face or an immense obstacle that you have to remove
Even rarer still is when, as Koestler describes, you have to enter your tragic plane in which you have to face your death. Then, if you survive, you come back and you are a changed person.
We believe that the kind peace and comfort of the life by orthodoxy is one of stagnation. What it is the alternative?
The alternative is exploit the gift of our imagination and our ability to think. It is the time to take flight and soar and use our imagine to wonder and wander how we can think and see something in a powerfully different way that will add to the greater common good.
Each day, this gauntlet is thrown at our feet and so few of us pick it up.
Be bold, be brave and pick it up and take it on and discover the good you can do for the other.
If this is not the purpose of life then what on earth are we here for?
