What can I do but to truly thank the New York Times for its advice to Shinzo - NOT to do it:

If he does so, it will irate, vex and irk more than one nation in East and South East Asia.
Just think on this.
If the Imperial Nippon Army had conquered Hawaii and California at the time of WW II, its women would have be required to be sex slaves for its samurai soldiers. There simply would be no monetary compensation for the services that would have been exacted from them . . . Nippon style.
In fact, today there has been no compensation at all the surviving women.
Historically, in war there was rape but no army enslaved its conquered women to be accompany it as sex slaves. There is no record that the Roman Legions did such a thing or Darius' Immortals or Hannibal's Carthaginian soldiers or even Genghis Khan's Mongol horde. What they did was singularly unusual and unique.
