WE ARE ALL NOT EQUAL!
So, when it is proclaimed that we are all equal, what does it mean?
Where are we equal?
When are we equal?
How are we equal?
With whom are we equal?
When are we not equal.
We are equal in a line up to a bank teller, get into our aeroplane, at a restaurant, in an emergency room and education. In other words, in any location where we seek the same service as others. This includes our right to vote, to fulfill our obligation to pay our taxes, to seek justice.
We are equal, when we share the same fate - birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage and death.
We are equal when the other is as competent/incompetent as we are, as good/poor as we are, as fine/rough as we are, as genteel/coarse as we are, as kind/cruel as we are, as polite/nasty as we are. In other words we are equal when in disposition we are the same.
We are equal with the other when we can each do the same/not the same in quality and finesse in - plumbing, doctoring, painting and so forth.
We are not equal when the other is better, cleverer, stronger, more insightful, more alert, more aware than we are. In other words, when the other's power, strength, intelligence and aptitude exceeds ours.
It is for this, that children need to be brought up to understand that there are others who are their betters.
Children are reared to day with an unbridled and uncontrolled conclusion that they are the equal to everybody and for this they do not need to respect anyone.
It is one of the saddest things in life to encounter children who are rude and coarse in their manners towards others.
Disrespect is not a virtue.
It is really quite a disgusting SIN.
