When you see the picture of Biden and Xi together, it is so obvious that they are buddies; and buddies stick together.
And when the other boys in the block see this, they know where they stand in the new evolving form of international play betwixt themselves.
For this, you can now grasp how pleased the U.S. was that when it first sent its two B52 bombers into China's ADIZ, China did not shoot them down as it once did to one of its surveillance air craft.
If China had, the embarrassment for the U.S. would have been humungous. The evidence from various polls is that the American people are today simply not willing to go to war . . . anywhere; and no Congress will flout the will of the American people; and finally, the Obama administration has no stomache for an full all out Asian war with China.
Can you imagine if the U.S. were to nuke China for shooting down its two B52s - what China would do?
The question is whether the U.S. can stand the total obliteration of LA and NYC in exchange for Shanghai and Guangzhou. For a population of 1.4 trillion, the Chinese can absorb their loss. Can the U.S. absorb their loss?
So you see, what happened was all part of a little operatic skit.
Everything is fine.
