Is the U.S. in, or out, or in and out of Afghanistan?

For me there is so much mystery surrounding the U.S. presence in Afghanistan.
One thing I am sure of is that within the last month, 3 U.S. soldiers were killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. It was such a small number that i only took a cursory notice of it.

And cost I understand is immense!

The people of the United States really have a right to know if their nation is OUT of Afghanistan or they are still IN Afghanistan.
Is the war for them OVER or IT IS STILL ON?
