Within my life time:

Within my life time the U.S. 7th Fleet dominated all waters, even the coastal waters of China, Korea, Japan, French Indo-China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philipines. America felt safe and comforted. Its ships could intrude into their their territorial waters at will and there was nothing they could do.

But after the whacking China got from Charleston Heston, Ava Gardner and David Niven in 55 Days in Peking and the massive looting and pillaging of the Imperial Summer Palace, you can imagine how worried, anxious and fearful to the point of panic the Chinese really felt with the shere power of the 7th Fleet.
Now, this is the change:

Can we surmise that China feels a little bit better?
