Cancer!

Cancers are lethal with a fixated quirk - to kill the person. If Medicine can deal with a cancer the first time, it can and does come back. When it does so on the second, it is the 'same' cancer and yet its properties are radically changed. First time it was a solitary lesion. On the second pass it reappears, scattered all over the place. Now it will not bend to the chemo that it submitted to the first time. Radiation that could burn it, now radiation is futile.

If Medicine can erase the cancer its second pass, it is not over. It comes back again on a third time to fulfill its mission. It is a rarity that Medicine can undo a cancer that comes back a third time.

Then there is a list of lethal cancers that Medicine has no treatment for. At the top of this list is cancer of the pancreas.

For these cancers and the above, the person is in fact left with NO HOPE. For us, this is an egregious violation of the First Fundamental of Neuro-Semantic Programming, NSP that relates to the divine wonder of human person-hood.
