China and memories:

Here is the evidence that the Chinese have long memories. They have not forgotten the whupping they got at the hands of the Mongols and to be prepared for their resurgence that they may thus have to face:

Then their latest whuppings were at the hands of the imperial powers for which they had to cede Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories and millions of acres of land to the Czar in her unequal treaties with him plus the rule of vast areas of China under the Japanese Imperial Army. The memory of all these wounds are   still fresh to the Chinese. In preparation for any resurgence in this area they are preparing themselves thus:

Some people view such preparations as China's unfolding agression and belligernce. Othes see it as following Baden Powell's advice to his boy scouts:
Be Prepared.

If this true, they will have to be really prepared for the United States as Obama has now declared that the U.S. will now assert its hegemony over the Eastern Pacific. How indeed would the U.S. respond, if China were to declare that it intends to assert its hegemony over the Western Pacific?
